AmeriKKKa the Beautiful

I was asked at work today why I spell America with 3 K'S instead of the "right" way. I was asked if I associated our government with the KKK. I was asked if I was a racist. I was asked all this by a white dude that reads my blog on the regular. Well, his first 2 questions I was prepared for. His third... well I had to think about that one for a minute.
I am going to answer his 3 questions. Except I am going to start with the last one first.
1. No I am not a racist. Being a racist is ignorant. Not liking someone just because they look different from you or talk different from you or put their drawers on different from you is pure ignorance. I am not an ignorant man. I can get stupid if I have to, but I am far from being ignorant.
There are a lot of things in this country that I do not like. There are a lot of people in this country that I do not like. Black people, White people, Hispanic people. But the reason I don't like these certain individuals has nothing to do with their race. I do not judge a whole ethnic group of people for the actions of one dumb-ass individual.(More Ignorance) It has to do with their character, who they are as human beings. I would be lying if I said I don't see race, because I do. My excuse for that is I only do what my country has taught me to do. My Country has made my race an issue. My Country has made my race a determining factor when it comes to jobs, housing, education, voting, law enforcement, even walking down the street. My Country decided that my skin color (i.e. my race) was a bad thing, I had no voice in any of that. I am not a racist, but I believe My Country is. However, I believe that if anyone walking the earth has a right to be a racist, it is the African American. (But hate kills, and I am not ready to die). All we ever wanted, (correction... all we want), is to be treated fairly. All we want is to be accepted as the beautiful people that we know we are. Not black people, just plain 'ole people.
And for that we are hated.
Go figure.
2. Do I associate my government with the KKK?
Uhhh.... let me think.... Yeah!!!
I believe all of these Ignorant-ass hate and fear spreading groups call themselves "Patriots". They call themselves "God fearing Americans". When I look at pictures of the people running our government, making our laws, deciding what we see on T.V., all I see are these "Patriots". When I hear someone say that some guy is an "All American Boy," I know they are not talking about me, or someone who is dark like me. They are talking about the blond haired, blue eyed guy next to me. When I hear someone talking about the "All American City" they are not talking about Harlem, South East DC, South Philly or even South Dallas. They are talking about the lily white suburbs.
I believe the KKK was started by a group of "patriots" that felt that blacks and every other non white group of people was trying to take over and destroy their country that was given to them by their God. Isn't that the reasoning behind our so called war on Terror? They want to change our way of life? They want to destroy our country by taking away our freedoms? Doesn't that sound a lot like what the KKK was saying when they were lynching black men on the town square?
HMMM....If it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck, what the hell is it?
3. Why do I spell America with 3 k's?
Well, I call it like I see it. My country has had it's foot on Black People's necks (Asian Necks, Hispanic Necks) since this country was founded. This country has gotten to be the greatest country on the face of the earth because of Black People, Asian People, Hispanic People and White People. In other words, ALL of it's people. But all the accolades have only gone to the White People. No one ever sees the contributions that all the other races have made to make this country great. Where would America be without the contributions that it's minorities have made? If I go overseas, the people I encounter don't look at me as being a Black American, I am looked at as being an American. Only in the country of my birth is my skin color an issue.
So that is why I spell AmeriKKKa the way I do. That is why I talk the way I do, that is why I live the way I do.
So, (insert name of coworker here),
I hope that I have answered your questions to your satisfaction. If not, well... You must have been hoping for the "All American" answer, and this ain't it.

The Gift That Keeps on Giving

Thanksgiving was yesterday. My wife and I stayed home and enjoyed a quiet evening together. We didn't have anyone over for the spectacular meal my wife prepared because all of our family is back on the East coast. We were just on the East Coast last week so I could bury my father who passed 2 and half weeks ago from complications from Diabetes. (Black men we have to take better care of ourselves!!!! My father was only 57 years young!!!) Anyway I really didn't feel like company, so I am kind relieved that my family is so far away. I told myself that I was not going to write about my fathers death, (Hence the two previous posts)... but thinking about this Holiday, I just couldn't help it.
I have never been one to go crazy over the Holidays, because I grew up in a home where Holidays were just another day. My mom is a devout Jehovah's Witness. My wife loves the holidays though, so I have had to adopt a new understanding of them. I kind of like Thanksgiving. If I were to have a favorite holiday, then Thanksgiving would be it. I really appreciate the fact that friends and family get together just to celebrate the good things in their life. Giving thanks for health, prosperity and family is a very good thing. Even though I know that the Indians (Native Americans) that were displaced and killed during the time this holiday was thought up, probably hate Thanksgiving, but that is a rant for another time.
My problem with Amerikkkan holidays is this. People will go through the whole year f--king people over, abusing their loved ones, hurting and abusing children and elderly people, lying, cheating, stealing and every other foul and vile thing that you could do to a person and all of a sudden for 2 days out of the year,(Christmas and Thanksgiving) they think that all they have to do is give some homeless person a dollar or volunteer at some shelter for a day and all their past transgressions and sins are forgiving. Then the very next day they go back to f--king people over again. That is so fake to me. That is the main reason I hate this time of year. If you are going to be an asshole 363 days a year, I don't see how skipping 2 days to "be good" to your fellow man is going to cancel your reservation for that room in hell with the spectacular views of a fiery lake.
But this is just my views.
There are some people that know that doing good for 2 days out of the year is not going to be quite enough to save you. Two Men I would like to spotlight are Atlanta Falcons Running Back Warrick Dunn and Detroit Pistons Forward Teshawn Prince. These two Black MEN are helping people 365 days a year.
The Warrick Dunn Foundation builds houses for single mothers. The foundation helps the single Moms with financing the homes and they come fully furnished. So far The Warrick Dunn Foundation has helped 69 single mothers and 181 children. (News like this about how some Black men are actually helping their community usually gets overshadowed by news of Britney Spears getting out of a rehab somewhere.)
Teshawn Prince has rebuilt a luxury suite in The Palace of Auburn Hills for children suffering with cancer. This suite was rebuilt with his own money. It gives 16 children and their families a chance to sit on the floor during every home game the Pistons play and watch the team practice before the game. It also allows them to meet the players and the team officials. During the game the kids will watch in the refurbished suite that has a Nintendo WII and the meals are catered especially for the kids. 16 new kids get to enjoy this once in a lifetime experience every Detroit Pistons home game. Mr. Prince picks up the entire tab.
This is the kind of thing that is starting to change my mind about Thanksgiving. I am thankful that there are some Men in our community that are trying to make a difference. I am thankful to have proof that the Devil is a liar, and not everything in my community is bad. I am thankful that I am healthy enough and have the opportunities and self motivation to improve my current situation so that I can someday emulate these 2 brothers example. I am Thankful that I have the support and love of my wife, my family and her family. (God bless my father's soul). I am thankful that I am smart and strong enough to get past the bullshit that threatens to take my sanity everyday. And last but not least I am thankful to be alive. Life is a very precious thing and it should not be taken for granted. The average life span these days for a young black man in AmeriKKKA is 25 years old. 25!!! I have surpassed that age by a decade and I am hoping for about 5 or 6 more. My fathers death at such a young age has hit me hard. But what can I say, he did live a good life.
So this post is dedicated to my Pops, Charles Wesley King. January 26, 1951 to November 8 2007.
You will not be forgotten Big Poppa!!!!
Believe that!!!

It is time for us to say "Man, you are own your own"

Next month the self proclaimed "King of R&B" R. Kelly is going to be performing at the American Airlines Center here in Dallas. TI is facing serious Fed time over weapons violations. Michael "Wacko"Jackson is trying to make a comeback and 4 (count them 1, 2, 3, 4) big name rappers were in New York courts last week (all on the same day) to get arraigned on several charges a piece that could get them some serious jail time.
Now my problem is this....
When do we as a people stand up and stop defending these stupid ass Negros that do stupid shit and get caught? When do we as a people start distancing ourselves from these idiots? Why do we still give these fools the benefit of the doubt, hoping and praying that there could be some kind of racism involved? Why do we still treat these buffoons and clowns as role models?
I don't understand this madness.
R Kelly sexually assaults a 14 year old girl, urinates on her, (I saw the Tape. That is that Negro) and he still hasn't faced justice and he is still selling out concert venues across the country. Michael Jackson goes to trial on yet another child molestation charge, and black people still rush to defend him. TI's dumb ass gets caught buying MACHINE GUNS with SILENCERS, and our excuse for his stupidity is that he was set up because he is a young rich black man. 4 big name rappers: Busta Rhymes, Remy Ma, Lil Wayne and Ja Rule are in the same court on the same day to get arraigned on several charges of illegal behavior, and we say they are being targeted unfairly.
Are these not grown ass people? The white man didn't force these fools to do any of the things they are accused of doing. When will we as a people wash our hands of all this negativity that our "role models and icons" put themselves into? When will we demand that idiots like these stand up and answer for their dumbness instead of rallying behind them under the false guise of racism?
Black professionals in this country are under a microscope, there is no question about that. But common sense tells me if I know someone is watching me, I need to walk a straight line when I am in a position to be seen. Common sense tells me to cut ties with any one that I know has a "I don't care" attitude. Common sense tells me that if I know I am doing something I don't need to be doing, either I do it by myself ( I will not snitch on myself) or I need to make sure there are no cameras around. Common sense tells me if I was a rapper, to not brag about all the triggers I have pulled or how much "endo" I smoke everyday.
We need to stop rewarding stupidity and negativity. We need to say enough is enough to these fools, and make them accountable for their actions. And we need to educate our kids that these idiots are not people they need to emulate.
But I have to admit that it is easy to sit here in my office, in my suburban home writing about what we as a people need to do. It is easy to put the blame on someone else when I am just as guilty of trying to give these idiots the benefit of the doubt. But the truth is I am tired of just talking. I am ready to start doing. Just because these people are young and black does not mean that we have to support them. So....
I pledge to start taking a more proactive stand when I am out in the community and I see something that I know is not right. I have already stopped some young brothers and explained to them the meaning behind the word "NIGGA", I have stopped a group of young boys and told them to pull their damn pants up, and I am taking more of an active role in my 7 year old nephews education since his biological father ain't worth a ripped, wet food stamp. My steps are small right now, but hopefully they will get bigger as time goes on.
So what are you going to do?
What steps are you taking to improve the state of mind in our communities?

To My Uncle Larry pt 4

Who am I to judge?

This is going to be a touchy subject for some of the readers of my lil 'ole blog, but yall will get over it.

I was asked the other day about what I feel about Gay marriage. I replied I don't feel anything about Gay marriage. I could care less if two men or two women want to be together. It is not my business. I know what I like, and I know that my likes or dislikes will not be like everyone else's.

I happen to like women.

A lot.

Maybe too much.

So in saying that, let me continue.

If two people of the same sex want to be together, (if they are two consenting adults), then who am I to judge them? I know what the Bible says about homosexuality, and I believe the Bible. But the Bible also says that he who is without sin should cast the first stone. I can only speak for myself here, but I know I sin a lot. I have to ask for forgiveness everyday for something stupid that I have done. I know that when my time comes to stand before God, I will have a lot of explaining to do about why I did what I did, when I did what I did. So I do not have time to worry about someone else.

The way I see it is, if you are Gay, then you are the one that has to stand before God and explain to him why if you are a man, you like either bending down in front of another man or bending over in front of another man. Or in the case of a woman, you have to explain why you perform oral sex on a woman or like it performed on you by another woman.I don't have to worry about that, so why should I treat you any different from anyone else? I have a lot more things in my life that need my undivided attention than worrying about what 2 adults are doing in private.

My problem with the whole Gay thing is this.

The so called "down low" Gay. I cannot stand someone that tries to hide who he/she is. I have no problem with a person being Gay. I have a problem with someone that tries to hide their Gayness. I can play ball with a Gay dude, I can go to happy hour with a Gay dude, I can even go to a club with a Gay dude, (a straight club) as long as I know that dude is Gay. I don't want to be out with one of my fellas, and we are drinking together, and all of a sudden he tells me that he has a crush on me. That is grounds for an ass whooping.

For Real.

Don't be ashamed of who you are.

In my humble opinion, if you feel that you have to hide what you do, then something is telling you that what you are doing is not right.

I also cannot stand the "girlie" Gays. If you were born a man, with 2 Balls and a Kane, then be a fucking man.
I cannot stand the flaming Gays. The same thing goes for the bull-dyke lesbians.
This is something I don't understand.
In every Gay relationship there is always the "girlie" man and the "manly" man. In lesbian relationships there is always the "manly" female, and the feminine female. What is that telling you? "Girlie" man, "manly" man. "Manly" female, Feminine female. In other words, there is always someone playing the mans' role, and someone playing the woman's role. Is that not the way God intended us to be, Man and Woman? So why don't Gay people face reality and do what is natural?

I do not understand the whole Gay mentality. I do not see what is attractive about another man.

But that is me. And this is my opinion. Not everyone is going to agree with my opinion, ( ask me if I am going to lose any sleep tonight).....
I do not have the room to condemn anyone else's behavior. I can only worry about the example that I set in AmeriKKKa.

I guess that means that I am "normal", whatever the hell "normal" is.

Man, be real with yourself and us!!!!

Here is a story about another big named celebrity that let his true feelings come out when he thought that no one was listening.
It seems that America's favorite bounty hunter DOGG was taped calling his son's black girlfriend a nigger. He was taped telling his son that he needs to quit that nigger girl and just leave her alone. I don't know if those were his exact words, because I have not heard the tape. I do not want to hear the tape. I don't need to hear what this man thinks of people whose skin looks like mine. His opinion doesn't matter to me. What matters to me is that now I and everybody that has heard about this guy finally knows who and what he is.
Of course he made the rounds on the right radio talk shows and the right newspapers and tried to clean up what he said. ' I apologize to all the people that might have been hurt by my words. I am not a racist. I love black people. I respect the contributions that they have made to our country. yada yada yada'....
Yeah Dogg I believe you man. I believe that when you were younger you were part of a racist all white motorcycle gang. I believe that you went to prison for some of the things that you and your posse did. I believe that I have never seen a person of color on your show that was not being hunted down like a dog and handcuffed. I also believe in the Tooth Fairy, Santa Clause and werewolves . So you expect me and everyone else that has seen your show and the interviews you gave were you were talking about your past to believe that since you are a big time celebrity now, being interviewed by Larry King and all, that your views have changed?
Come on man. I might not be the brightest bulb in the room, but I ain't exactly that dim either.
Be real man. You cannot stand the fact that your son, the Doggs own boy, could fall for one of us darkies huh? Is this an embarrassment for you? Has your old redneck, ignorant, meth smoking biker buddies called to revoke your biker jacket? You can tell me man. I understand. I think I would have a fit if I found out my son was dating your daughter.
So why apologize?
Were you not saying exactly what you feel? So which part is bullshit? The so called heartfelt "I love black people" apology, or your true feelings? The way I figure it, you are lying about something. Either you really don't want your son dating a black girl, or you really are not a racist. My bet is you don't want your son dating Shameka. (But that is only my observation).
The way I was brought up is, if you feel that what you will say or do to a person will hurt them, demean them, or in anyway devalue their worth as a fellow human being, you keep your mouth shut. In other words, DOGG if what you say or do will force you to apologize later, then you don't need to say or do what ever it is you were going to say or do. You follow me?
So why apologize?
This is still Amerryica. Freedom of speech. The land of the free. Free Press and all that jazz.
Be proud of who you are. If you a mullet wearing, leather in the summer wearing, fake Indian medallion wearing, card carrying member of whatever biker gang you went to prison for redneck, then be proud of that!! Don't give no fake bullshit apologies!!!
Don't piss on my back and tell me it's raining!! Come out of the closet DOGG!!
I for one am glad to finally know what you think of my people. I have more respect for a man that let's the world knows how he feels, than a BITCH that hides behind a bullshit-ass apology when he gets caught with his pants down. Be real with yourself man. Show some dignity and respect for once.
Besides it ain't like you are going to lose any money behind all this. We all see that Don Imus got his show back. Bill O' Reilly is still spewing his bullshit. Rush Limbaugh is still popping his illegal prescription pills, and Fox Noise is still raking in millions of viewers every day.
This will all blow over in about 2 or 3 days.
This is still AmeriKKKa.
The Land of the free.
