You say you want 466 billion? Dollars?Really ? Please!! We will give you 1.99 and a bucket of chicken..Take it or leave it..Boy

Last night the President gave a "major"speech about his proposal to get the economy back on track.

I tried to watch it..but alls I heard was blah blah blah.

I want to have faith in the dude; lord knows I do;but I know that when he gives his feel good, we will overcome speeches the Republicans tell him what's what; he settles for the scraps they toss him and then he gives another speech about how he was glad that the two sides could come together in a moment of crisis.

We will hear for the next 2 months about how the Republicans won't budge, the Dumocrats "led" by the President will go from town hall to town hall telling the American people how Congress must act now.

The President will call an "emergency" meeting with the usual redneck suspects, the cameras will be rolling and after about 45 minutes Boehner will give a press conference telling the American People what he wants,  what he ain't gonna do, all in the name of the American People mind you, and that the President can go suck a dick. After about another week, the two sides will come to an "agreement" in which Boehner and his butt buddies get exactly what they want while the pussy-ass dumocrats are left standing in line at the nearest soup kitchen.

This is how it is going to go folks.

So again all I heard was "wonk wa wonk wonk wonk wa wonk".

Change we can believe in?

Really?

I agree 100%.

As we sit on our azzes; as tea party folks are in the streets, voting in primary and mid-term elections; as we have been consistently out worked - how dare our messiah not walk on water.

Moses did...Why can't Obama? We sent him to DC so he can't fight the multi-billion dollar far right propaganda machine and so we can go back to the NFL, Real Housewives and other constructive indulgences.

@Reggie and we want from: "We are the change we seek" to "Why can't he do it all alone"

Seriously folks: Politics is not a spectator sport!

Who is we who sat on our azzes healthysouls? As one who didn't sit on their azz and not only went to the polls but support the President financially and went, registered voters and took people to the polls on election day I have earned the right to express dissappointment with the President's policies. I didn't do all that just so he and his pretty wife and daughters could occupy the White House and be spectators. No excuses!

@redeye

1. If the shoe don't fit...don't wear it.

2. Voting in a presidental election in our democracy is the bare minimum. One doesn't get a gold star for voting...you are suppose to exercise this right.

Check it out:

When the 2009 Tea Party town hall meetings changed the temperature and conversation, where was the answer from the progressives?

I will continue to say, many progressives voted and then tuned out. Tea Party folk voted, lost (in election 2008)and then organized for their cause.

We tried (in my area) to organized, engage and mobilized via coffee club and other initiatives a concerned progressive response to the Tea Party- to no avail.

People were like, I voted already...I did my job, now leave me alone.

This - when Obama still had political capital - was the time for a poverty bus tour.

3. Mid-term elections - progressives were MIA...and now complain about the results - A Tea Party congressional obstruction.

Criticizing is healthy for our democracy and it is your right.
But blanket criticism without understanding or addressing the political reality is a cop-out in my opinion.

Just google the Billionare Koch brothers and how they through FOX News, Rush Limbaugh, 4 GOP governors, 2 supreme court justices (yes our friends clarence thomas and anton scalia) and several other billionares and congressman met to organize the tea party and sabotage Obama and the progressive movement.

My last question, what legislation could Obama propose to tea party congress that would be passed?

BTW...on my blog post http://harveysglobalpolitics.blogspot.com/2011/07/is-obam-wartime-president.html, I am very hard on Obama's leadership skills.

I personally don't know of anyone who didn't vote on election day. Do you? All the black folks I know take voting very seriously and knew how important the mid term elections were. It wasn't black folks who didn't get out and vote in the mid term.

Answer this question, if President Obama can't do anything why did we vote for and elect him?

The numbers dont lie...mid-term 2010 the turn-out was very low among progressives (notice I didn't just say blacks).

Hence, tea party nuts were elected and the republicans won back the House of Representatives.

By winning back the house, they can gridlock any legislation from becoming a law - and this is what they have effectively done.

No president can make laws, this is the job of congress. When we elect a president, we have to stay engaged so congress can hear our voices over wealthy lobbyist.

We have to continue to write, email, rally, demand, hold town hall meetings, march, petition, mobilize, our government in order to get our interest served.

The election is the easy part compared to governing. Tea Party folks - to their credit - better understand the process and are willing to do heavy lifting after elections.

Numbers do lie, remember Florida in 2000? Black folks turned out in the mid term.

Been there, done that and they ignore us.

I enjoy the discussion, but please read my words... I used the word progressives and this represents more than just blacks.

This is the liberal democratic base and even pundits and activist from the left (that would have cried foul if this was like 2001) have stated voting turn-out was significantly off in 2010.

2010 was not 2000 election...case in point, I waited at the polls 3 1/2 hours to vote in 2008 election and 15 minutes in 2010 - the same polling site.

But one thing I agree with, we have a corporate and big business bought congress that ignores the interest of the common guy/gal.

Minister Farrakahn once stated: Politics without economics is like, symbol without substance.

So what can be done?

Until we develop the dormant economic potential of our community, we will remain - metaphorically speaking - in the back of the bus.

Most blacks aren't progressives, they are liberal. Progressives is a term whites use because they are afraid to say they are liberals because it's been made to be a dirty word. I'm a proud, unashamed liberal. What about you?

Redeye,

Yep..So I am betting that you won't take a bet against my prediction huh? I have already heard that Big O is hinting around to reduce his demands so he can get his boss boehners approval.

Reggie,
Yep he sho nuff fooled all of us huh?

Healthysouls,

Thanks for all the knowledge you dropped here. I appreciate all the interaction. But there is one thing I have to add....We can only do so much. No matter how much we protest, march, organize, donate...if the guy we are supposed to be supporting bends over and lubes his own ass up for the fucking what else can we do?

Torrence,
Yep like I said...Wonk wa wonk wonk wonk...

Wolf,
So what does that make the fools of us that vote for them?
